Explain in your own words
Explain alliteration and invent a line with at least four alliterating words.
Do you like words that sound super cool together? Alliteration is a fun way to make your writing sing and stick in people's minds!
What this means
Alliteration is when words that are close together all start with the same sound. It's not always the same letter, but always the same sound. Think about words like 'happy hippo' – both start with the 'h' sound.
Writers use alliteration to make their poems and stories more interesting. It can create a rhythm, like a beat, and make phrases easier to remember. It's like a secret trick to make words sound musical.
Sometimes, alliteration helps to create a certain feeling or mood. Soft 's' sounds can be soothing, like 'slippery snake silently slithers.' Hard 'p' or 'b' sounds can be bouncy or bold, like 'bouncing baby bear.'
Many famous phrases and book titles use alliteration. Once you learn about it, you'll start noticing it everywhere! It's a fun word game you can play when you write or read.

How to do this quest
- Choose a sound you like, like 's' or 'b' or 't'.
- Think of a character or thing that starts with that sound. Maybe a 'sleeping snake'.
- Now, think of words that describe what your character does or what happens around them, also starting with your chosen sound. Perhaps the snake 'silently slithers'.
- Put them together to make a short sentence or phrase. Make sure at least four words in your sentence begin with that same sound.
- Read your line aloud to hear if it sounds fun and musical. Does it make a cool repeating sound?
Check yourself before you turn it in
- Does my line have at least four words that start with the same sound?
- Are the alliterating words close together in my line?
- Is my line easy and fun to say aloud?
- Did I remember that it's about the 'sound' and not just the 'letter'?
